AUTUMN
Every year I am amazed at the colors of Quincy. I know that all of you across the country see the same beauty as I see here. But the trees along the magnificent streets showcasing the old mansions, makes my chest constrict with beauty when the sun is setting and the trees seem to catch fire in its glow. Every street, every corner is ablaze with color. There are so many trees and so much color all over this small middle-of-the-country town. Here are some pictures to prove my point.
These "burning bushes" are along the curb of our home. In the evening, they look wild with fire like light. And I wonder if Prophet Moses saw these on Mount Sinai.
This beautiful tree is from Saadia's yard. She has the best colors on the street I think.
These trees are from her back yard.
This street runs north and south, and the trees display their beauty at all times of the day.
A closer view of some of these trees on our street.
And finally we come to some trees that have started losing their leaves. You can see the heavy carpet of leaves on the yard. And so Autumn is otherwise called Fall!
Have a beautiful season.

How beautiful, Zakiah! I've never seen fall colors like that -- we get a little here and there, but not the brilliance that you are showing!
Oh thank you Janet. It is so good to hear words of praise from a professional photographer.
My cousin from TX is enamoured of the burning bushes and wants some for her yard. Our walnut trees just turn brown - really boring. The neighbor 2 door down has a bright orange tree and next door the tulip tree is a rich yellow. The colors are really good this year - maybe it is because of the warm days and cool nights. Your street is gorgeous!
Do you think that the burning bushes will have such spectacular colors down in Texas? I really doubt that. Quincy has always had excellent show of colors. We are so happy with our season.
Your trees are beautiful. Thanks for sharing. Trees here are pretty boring. Most of them are always green and the few that change do so in the spring.
That's what my sister says. She lives in Fort Lauderdale.
These lovely trees resemble the ones we have in our housing scheme!
Oh neat! I am happy to hear that Gary.
I love the colors of fall! Beautiful.
When I first came to the US, and saw these colors, I couldn't stop talking about them. All the nurses in the hospital and the lab personnel would look at me like I was crazy. They didn't know that I had never seen such colors in India.
Very beautiful, Dr. Zakiah. I miss the Fall season from living in the Mid-West for 20 years. It is tame where I live now.
Thank you Frank.
Wow! Looks like a great year for colorful leaves.
We have some trees in Tampa that are blooming, and others that are shedding their leaves. The oaks drop acorns all over my car and driveway all the time. Sometimes with a bang.
Alicia sends her greetings. She made it safely to Medellin yesterday.
I am so glad Alicia made it to Medellin safe, and so happy that she is doing all the Christmas decorations to the house. When will you both return? Please let me know. Glad you liked the pictures. Perhaps next fall, you both can come here, and Alicia will enjoy autumn and her colors.
my hubby is from Chicago and when we would visit we always enjoyed the fall trees or I did more then hubby cause he grew up there and I grew up in southern Ca. and moved to Tx in high school and we have mild winters here.
Colors in autumn are just breathtaking here.
Wow, beautiful. Down here, leaves just turn brown and fall off. Yuck. My dad and uncle drove up to McGregor, IA a couple of weeks ago to see the leaves and I guess they were pretty. That's one of the things I miss about the Midwest.
The seasons here are so beautiful. But I am not looking forward to the cold spell that is sure to come soon. Being from a country where we in South India never knew this kind of cold, I just cannot stand the cold and the snow and the frigid temperatures. The older I get, the worse it gets.
Remind me to come there around this time next year!!Love you!
We get a good coloring of the leaves - my neighbor has the most beautiful maple tree, it's always the showiest tree in town, I have the same kind of maple tree and it doesn't look nearly as beautiful =/ maybe it hasn't come into it's own yet...Your street is awesome, I believe Moses' bush was actually burning and the the burning bushes are to remind us of the miracle!
Thank you for stopping over to leave such a sweet comment about trees in my street.
I really love those trees!! I wish I could have something like that here too! I think I need to go out and take some pictures!
I am not able to click on your name. Not sure if you had joined this Xanga before October 1st. I shall check my "readings" and see if you are there, and then leave a comment there in future. Thank you for stopping by.
Actually, we don't get those fall colors here in South Florida. So thanks for the pictures!
In case you haven't seen my reply to your question, I said:
Yes, I'm wearing a splint - - all of the time except when applying ice and when sleeping. I'm taking Motrin PM in the evening and Aleve in the morning. The thumb actually feels fine but my medical advisers are unanimous that I should REST, not TEST, the thumb for an extended period of time. It remains to be seen whether that's measured in days or months. The person who warned "months" is a hand therapy specialist who is so well - respected that doctors consult HER when they're not sure. Or so I'm told. However, the good news is that she wants to see me 13 days from now, at which time she says she'll have a set of exercises ready for me to start putting my thumb through.
I always love your posts. You are a woman after my own heart.
It's beautiful and then it's sad when all the leaves are gone.
You are surrounded by the autumn fire and light, Zakiah. Those trees are gorgeous.
I hope your Son in law continues to improve.
Love
Michel
Your photos have brought me such joy!
Thank you for sharing!
I always remember that the changes in the Fall are necessary for the new life and rebirth in Spring!
HUGS!!!
i'm jealous. we don't get fall season down here. this making me miss my college days back in the new england area. the fall was the best season to be in new england.
Almost all the leaves are gone now. The naked trees have so many nests sitting on their branches. The birds seem to have gone south. The whole vista is very gloomy and dreary.
