My Days
Ever since news of Dave's cancer, my days and my life are just so turned around. The days are so busy, but I do not mind that at all. Saadi takes the boys to school, Noah at 7:15 a am, and Davis at 8:20 a m. She lets Dave sleep in late because he is tired. Then she gets ready to go to her work across the river Mississippi, to teach at college. I make some food at home for our selves, then make food for Saadi and Dave. She just doesn't have time to cook at home, because when she comes home, Dave is ready for her to go to the Cancer Center for the radiation. They return at 4:30 or thereabouts. By this time she is so tired with the long day, that I just want her to rest and relax and have a good meal. Some days I pick the boys up from schools, one at 2:25, and the other at 3:15. But very often Saadi hurries back from college to pick the boys up. She just doesn't want them to feel any change in the routine of their lives. Sometimes I pick little Andrew at 2: 20, and it is kind of a juggling act then. I take the boys home, get them settled and feed them snacks. While they are having the snacks, I run home, ( six doors down) and bring the food that I have made for them. Then I play some ping pong with Noah, while Mohamed keeps Davis company up stairs. I am so grateful that my children live so close to me. Can you imagine how I miserable we would be if she lived out of town?
The food I make for them ranges from soups and bread to beef wellington and pot roast, or one pan taco meal which includes rice. I am so happy for Food network for their recipes.
Tomorrow Dave has his last appointment for radiation. After that it is a waiting period before further tests can be done. He continues to have pain, but he is not miserable with it. He is able to put in a few hours of work this past week.
Thank you all for your sincere wishes and thoughts and prayers. Please continue to do so.

I am sure and certain that your children and grandchildren are thankful for your presence in their lives! Your example of caring and love will impact their lives and that of their children and their children's children! Just like the cycle of violence is passed through generations so too is the love. And Love is stronger!!
Oh, Zakiah -- I'm so glad that you live so close to Saadia and Dave and the kids. I'm sure they really appreciate all that you are doing for them. It sounds as if the radiation has had a positive effect -- I hope that is the case, and that he has beaten his disease. I love that photo -- almost like a silver face shining through that cloud
!
Throughout the day and now as I am ready to fall asleep, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. I am glad that you live so close to them. I know you are a blessing to Dave, Saadia, and the children with your many loving services to them. It is somehow easier for you and your husband to be able to minister to their needs, too. I shall continue to keep bringing your needs to JESUS as I pray throughout my waking hours. ((Hugs))
The whole family is united to help Dave to beat the disease and to try to maintain a normal life
I hope that the radiation will beat this cancer.
In any case, you are in my thoughts and prayers every day.
Love
Michel
Dear Zakiah you are a wonderful person. I can see how you all are united to overcome cancer. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Many many hugs for you.
Thank you Floriana, I am humbled by the way my daughter shows her strength. I am a weakling compared to her. may God bless her and give her and her husband a long healthy life with their children.
there's a heart in the clouds <3 ...I wish every family could be like yours, it would be such a different world. Hugs and Prayers for you all!
Very sorry to hear about his cancer. It's great that you're close by. I'm also thankful for the advances in treatment. When I was a child, cancer was much less treatable, and the treatments were brutal.
You are such good souls. Your family can really rely on you and your husband. My friends and I continue to pray for Dave and all of the family. The picture...a smile through the clouds.
I didn't realize (or I probably forgot) that you live that close. You and M are so good to help out and to keep an eye on everyone. Let's continue to pray for remission.
Yes Matt, we live really close. Same street, even though there are three or four blocks between our homes. I am praying for that too Matt. A complete remission. I want his pain to be gone. He is getting some lab done this month and I want every thing to be good and negative. Do not want any residual tumor anywhere. God willing. Thank you for your wishes love.
I hope Dave fully recovers. Your family unit is so strong & inspiring to read.
Amen Andrew. That's what we are praying for. I am proud of my family.
I have always admire how strong and loving your family is. Just picking up the kids is a meaningful task to you and Saadia.
Dave is in my prayers.
Blessings to you and your family,
frank
Thank you Frank. What else is there in life, if not the love of and for your family?
I know your family is so glad you are close by! I love that you can be there for them and can help with many of the day to day activities! They need you so much right now!
It is so much harder when our kids are far away in distance.
I continue to pray for complete healing for Dave!
