Tornado in Quincy
A small (?) tornado hit us on Monday afternoon. We were out of power until this morning. Quincy is such a beautiful TREE CITY. Hundreds of native trees were uprooted. so many homes were affected by the uprooting of trees, and vehicles that were parked on the street, were crushed. I thank God, that there was no one who was inured.
some of these pictures are of my neighbourhood,. My neighbours on both sides of us, had humongous trees that came down. My yard had our basket ball pole that was torn apart and landed in the yard. That was the only damage that we had, other than some problem with the basement because the sump pump was not working due to power failure. But we, with the help of neighbours were able to connect a generator, and take care of that.Utility pole down across Saadi and Dave's home. Back yard of their home where a huge branch got torn away from the trunk . It fell across the fence and knocked the transformer off from another utility pole.
Noah and his friends chopping down a tree that fell across their yard from the neighbor's yard.
Our neighbour's home on the left.
The huge, beautiful tree in my neighbour's yard to the right.
This is what happened to our basket ball post! It prostrated on the lawn.
This picture below, shows one of the folks we knew so well. Carol worked in the hospital as a medical records person and the husband is a national guard person who had a small business. Both are retired. I hated to see what had happened to their home.
I am just grateful that even though we were without power for almost four days, no lives were lost, and we all had a roof to sleep under. I pray that we never see this kind of storm again. Because the land was so saturated with so much rain,. the wind uprooted the trees with such great ease it seems.
Well, that's it for now.Tomorrow is the Eid, the end of Ramadan. A day for great Thanksgiving. Have a good weekend.
